NRA First Steps

The NRA First steps courses are designed to take new shooters to a safe level of handling a firearm in a shortened version of the full Basic course.  These courses still emphasize safety and shooting fundamentals but typically only take approximately 4 hours to complete including some hands-on shooting.

Course Outline:
  • Firearm Safety
  • Ammunition Identification
  • Shooting Fundamentals
  • 2 handed shooting techniques
  • Safe Storage of firearms and ammunition
  • Care and Cleaning firearms

We will go through approximately 50 to 100 rounds of ammunition depending on the needs of the students.

Class size is limited to 4 and each class is focused on a single type of firearm. ie. revolver, semiautomatic, shotgun, rifle.

The First Steps course is also one avenue to meet the prerequisites for taking the Personal Protection in the Home or the Defensive Pistol courses
